Akatew Haaile Mebrahtu, MS.c in Energy Technology (Mechanical Engineering)
Mr. Akatew Haile is senior lecturer and energy expert at School of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering under thermal and Energy streams. In 2008, Akatew earned his BSc in Industrial Engineering and MSc in 2014 in Energy Technology (Mechanical Engineering) at Mekelle University. Mr. Akatew is currently head of Thermal and Energy Systems Chair under the School of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Ethiopian Institute of Technology-Mekelle, Mekelle University with more than 13 years of experience in teaching, research and project works related to energy in higher education. Mr.Akatew developed and co-developed different international and national projects. Among the international projects community Energy and sustainable energy transitions in Ethiopia, Malawi and Mozambique funded by ESR UK, transforming energy access-learning partnership to develop off-grid energy systems Department for international development of UK through Cape town university, carnot gensets feasibility study for biofuel application funded by Innovative UK, energy auditing for implementation of evidence based conservation measures funded by GIZ (Germany), Technical training on installation, operation and maintenance of solar PV and solar powered water pumping integrated with battery for irrigation funded by KfW (Germany) etc. He received additional training from Energy and research institute TERI (INDIA) in Renewable Energy, and participated in different international workshops like Clean Cooking Forum, and Transforming energy access through learning partnership at Nairobi (Kenya). He got certificate on Civic Engagement, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Social Innovation, Fund Razing, Project Management and mentoring though African Change Makers Fellowship Program Cohort4, 2020. He is interested on the following research areas Energy technology, which focuses on renewable energy, Energy Economics and Policy, Technology Management, Photovoltaics’, solar thermal application, biofuel energy, wind energy, and materials applications for energy conversion and storage. Mr. Akatew has been co-advising 10 MS.c students, under thermal and energy systems stream and advising more than 60 undergraduate students of mechanical and industrial engineering focusing on the area of engineering and all have graduated.

Dr. Mulualem G. Gebreslassie is an Associate Professor of Energy at Sheffield Hallam University.
Dr. Mulualem G. Gebreslassie is an Associate Professor of Energy at Sheffield Hallam University. He has over 18 years of leadership, project management, research, and teaching experience in the energy sector at Mekelle University since 2005. As a principal or co-principal investigator, he has participated in a total of 23 collaborative research and capacity building projects with more than 37 National and international institutions. A result of these research activities and collaborations have been and continued to be published in peer reviewed high impact journals such as in nature energy; energy policy; energy research and social sciences; energy, sustainability, and society; energy efficiency; renewable energy; WIREs energy and environment; sustainable energy technologies and assessments; sustainable engineering and others. Mr. Solomon Teklemichael Bahta
Mr. Solomon Teklemichael Bahta, MS.c in Renewable Energy (Mechanical Engineering)
Solomon attended his master's degree in Renewable Energy from KTH, Sweden, and Energy Engineering and Management from University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior Tecnico Portugal. He obtained BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mekelle University, and Advanced Diploma in Manufacturing Technology from Maichew Technical College. He is currently working as an assistant professor at the Ethiopian Institute of Technology/Mekelle, Mekelle University in the Thermal and Energy Systems chair, and parallel to his teaching works, he has served as head of the Thermal and Energy Systems. Solomon has been involved in national and international research and capacity building projects that cover various areas such as Community energy and sustainable energy transitions in Ethiopia, Malawi, and Mozambique (CESET) funded by ESRC, UK , Carnot GEN-Sets -Feasibility study funded by Innovate UK, Strengthening Mobility and Promoting Regional Integration of Engineering Education in Africa (SPREE) funded by Intra-Africa scheme, European commission, GiZ funded industrial projects for Energy Auditing. He has been the local coordinator for the Strengthening Mobility and Promoting Regional Integration of Engineering Education in Africa (SPREE) of the energy program at Mekelle University. Currently, Solomon is the focal person for center of Excellence in Renewable energy with focus on Wind and Solar Energy (CoE in RE-WiSE) which worth 2.35 million Euros capacity building project funded by the German Developemnt Bank (KfW). Furthermore, he has also co-supervised 8 postgraduate theses such as; technical design, simulation & prototype development of solar photovoltaic/thermal hybrid system for enhanced energy efficiency. wind energy resources assessment, solar energy source assessment in North Ethiopia, potential investigation and design of small-scale hydropower, municipal solid waste assessment and characterization, alternative fuel development for cement industries, biofuel based mini-grid energy system design, and design, development and experimental set up of MSW based small scale power generation system. Mr. Mesele Hayelom Hailu, MSc in Sustainable Energy Technology
Mr. Mesele Hayelom Hailu is an academic and research staff at Mekelle University of Ethiopia since September 2004 and is currently pursuing a PhD study at the Norwegian University of Science and technology (NTNU Norway) in solar thermal systems for small-scale applications. He attended his MSc degree in Sustainable Energy Technology from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) of the Netherlands and BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bahir Dar University of Ethiopia. In his academic carrier, He has been actively participating in teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to sustainable/Renewable Energy engineering/technology. Furthermore, He has been involved in different research activities mainly on Renewable energy technologies (Solar, wind Hydro, biomass etc.), thermal system applications, energy system modeling, simulations and optimizations. Mrs. Fana Filli Nurhussien
Mrs. Fana Filli Nurhussien, MSc in Energy Technology
Mrs. Nurhussien is an Assistant Professor of Energy Technology at the Ethiopian Institute of Technology-Mekelle (EiT-M). She holds an MSc in Energy Technology from the School of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Mekelle University (2014), and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (2010). With extensive experience in the field, she serves as a senior lecturer of Energy at the Ethiopian Institute of Technology-Mekelle, Mekelle University, where she currently leads the Center of Energy. And she is an assistance focal person for Center of Excellence in Renewable energy with focus on Wind and Solar energy in a capacity building project funded by KfW Germany. Michael G. Bidir (Ph.D), born on June 16, 1982, in Adigrat, Tigray, Ethiopia, to Mebrat Tesfay, is a distinguished figure in the realm of energy research and engineering. His academic journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and a commitment to addressing pressing global energy challenges. Raised in Adigrat, Dr. Bidir received his early education at Agazi Elementary and Comprehensive High School, where he displayed remarkable academic prowess and a passion for science and technology. This early foundation laid the groundwork for his future academic endeavours. His thirst for knowledge led him to pursue higher education in engineering, starting with an advanced Diploma in Automotive Technology at Maichew Technical College. Ephrem Yohannes is a dedicated Ph.D. Candidate specializing in the research area of "Numerical and experimental performance improvement of cross flow turbine for optimal operation." and is sponsored by ICP NORAD phase V program. With a BSc in Mechanical engineering, MSc in Energy Technology and over 14 years of experience in teaching, research, and community service. Gabr Goshu Syum, born on January 16, 1992 G.C in Adiyabo, near Adi Nebrid, has been profoundly influenced by his culturally rich upbringing in this picturesque town, located approximately 35km northwest of Shire Indasilasse. Raised by his parents Lethehanis Syum Tesfay and Goshu Syum Tesfay, Gabr's deep connection to his roots and passion for his community have been pivotal in shaping his worldview and aspirations.
